BRAD DALTON has directed productions at the Metropolitan Opera (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), San Francisco
Opera (Il Trovatore, Le Nozze di Figaro, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Rigoletto), Washington
Opera (A Streetcar Named Desire), Pittsburgh Opera (Carmen), San Diego Opera (Streetcar), State Opera of South Australia (Dead
Man Walking), Opera Boston (Alceste), and Austin Lyric Opera (Streetcar).
Other directing credits include The Spitfire Grill at Stages Repertory
Theatre, The Glass Menagerie at the American Repertory Theatre, as well as
Hamlet and Equus at the Winthrop Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In addition, Dalton has worked on staff at
the opera companies in Santa Fe, Dallas, Denver, Tulsa, Memphis, West Palm Beach and Indianapolis. Recently, he directed the Great
Britain premiere of Streetcar with Renee Fleming and Andre Previn, conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.
In 2004, Dalton received the prestigious Helpmann Award for ”Best Director of an Opera” in Australia. He is a graduate
of Harvard University and the National Shakespeare Conservatory.
